Fever refers to a condition of the body in which the temperature goes beyond the normal. It is also characterized by disturbance in the normal functioning of the system. An increase in body temperature is the body’s natural way of fighting off illness and infection and It is a common ailment which occurs both in children and adults. The average temperature of a healthy body ranges between 36.9 degree C and 37.5 degree C, or 98.4 Degree F and 99.5 Degree F.

 

Symptoms of Common Fever:

Fever generally begins with slight shivering, pain in the head and various parts of the body, thirst, and great lassitude. The flow of urine is scanty.

 

Fever Causes:

In most cases a fever is caused by an underlying illness or infection. As the immune system fights off an infection, it generates heat, which results in an increased body temperature.

The real cause of all fevers, including common fever, however, is the accumulation of morbid matter in the system due to wrong feeding habits and unhygienic conditions of living. Fever is, thus, a natural attempt on the part of the body to rid itself of toxic matter.
 

Fever Home Remedies:

  1. Eating of cumin seeds with jaggery (bellam) cures the fever, which is troubling you for a long time.
  2. Taking of 20 to 40 grams of holy black basil (Krishna Tulsi) leaves juice can cure fever. Holy black basil is a very good natural home remedy for fever treatment.
  3. Drinking of 30 to 80 grams decoction made with the roots of holy black basil (krishna tulsi) plant two times in a day can helps to cure not only common fever but also cures all types of fever.
  4. A tea made from fenugreek seeds is equal in value to quinine in reducing fevers. This tea should be taken twice daily.
  5. Eating of 3 Datura (Ummetha) seeds three times in a day helps to cure fever. Datura is the very good home remedy for fever.
  6. Boiling root powder in water to prepare a concentrate (1 cup reduced to ½) could be taken, with a little sugar added, daily morning on the empty stomach.
  7. A tea made from saffron is another effective home remedy for fever. This tea is prepared by putting half a teaspoon of saffron in 30 ml of boiling water. The patient should be given a teaspoon of this tea every hour till the temperature returns to normal.
  8. Prepare sharbat by boiling by some tamarind pulp in half liter of milk and adding some dates, cloves, sugar, cardamoms and a very little camphor. It lessens the fever.
  9. A cup of fresh juice of apricots mixed with one teaspoon of glucose or honey is a very cooling drink during fevers. It quenches the thirst and eliminates the waste products from the body. It tones up the eyes, stomach, liver, heart, and nerves by supplying vitamins and minerals.
  10. Use Peepal leaves as laxative and tonic. They relieve feverish feeling of coolness.
  11. Bloodwort is one of the best known herbal remedies for fevers. A hot infusion of the herb prepared by steeping 15 gm of the herb in 250 ml of water should be taken twice daily.
  12. The bark of Tamarind acts as an astringent, a tonic and it reduces fever. Use the bark as laxative.

13.    Another herb found beneficial in the treatment of fever is hog weed. It should be taken twice daily in the form of an infusion prepared by steeping 15 gm of the herb in 250 ml of water. It brings down temperature by inducing copious perspiration.

  1. Applying of small mustard seeds oil to the body is helpful for people who are suffering with dengue fever. Usually dengue fever effected people suffering with joint pains and pains in the legs and hands.
